Dr. Robert Sekijima "Dr. Bob"
Dr. Sekijima has been practicing orthodontics in the Renton Highlands since 1988. He is a Bellevue native and a graduate of Sammamish High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Dental degrees from the University of Washington and received his Orthodontic specialty training at the University of Missouri where he also earned a Masters in Oral Biology.
He has been consistently recognized as one of Washingtons top Orthodontists by Seattle Met Magazine. He and his wife, Donna have twin daughters, Sarah and Kim. They enjoy hiking, skiing, and all outdoor activities. Since 2005 they have had the privilege to take biannual mission trips to Central America and Southeast Asia.
Leslie received her training at Bryman College, graduating in April 2005. She has lived in Kent most of her life, attending Kentlake and Kent Meridian High Schools. She has been with Dr. Sekijima since February 2007. She assists Dr. Sekijima with all orthodontic procedures. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the river, skiing, camping and scrapbooking. She enjoys seeing that patient's first smile when their braces come off.
Bonnie started with Dr. Sekijima when he opened his practice. She has extensive financial and insurance knowledge. She works closely with all responsible parties and is available for all financial and insurance matters. She enjoys seeing the patient's transition from their first visit to their last visit and how happy they are with their beautiful smiles! She and her husband, Kelly have three children and four grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with my family, gardening and going to garage sales in the spring and summer months.
Dawn is a Registered Dental Assistant working with Dr. Sekijima since 1997. She completed the dental assistant program and graduated a Certified Dental Assistant from Renton Technical College in 1995. She knew going through the dental assisting program that she really wanted to learn more about orthodontics and what better place to learn than with her Orthodontist, Dr. Sekijima. She volunteered one day a week while still attending the dental program, and decided orthodontics was the specialty that she wanted to stay in.
Originally she worked full time as an assistant for Dr. Sekijima but now, works part time in the lab trimming study models and helping with assistant duties when needed. She really enjoys our team; most she has known 20 plus years. There is staff she's known since her own treatment with Dr. Bob that is still with him.
Her family keeps her pretty busy with soccer, swimming, horse riding, hiking and anything else you can think of with three kids and a husband. They have enjoyed spending time volunteering at a horse rescue, participating in 4H events, horse shows and more soccer than one can imagine.
She is very grateful to be working at Dr. Sekijima's with such kind and dedicated people. We have a very fun office and she still looks forward to coming in to work after all these years. She finds her job rewarding when a patient sees their new smile.
Robin is one of our front desk team members. She has been with Dr. Bob since 1998. Before working for Dr. Bob, she experienced being a parent on the other side of the desk during orthodontic treatment for her daughters. She finds that having that perspective is an advantage to working her position. If you are scheduling appointments, coordinating treatment with your general dentist or needing correspondence sent in regard to your orthodontic treatment, you will most likely be talking to her.
She has lived in Renton most of her life and attended local schools, elementary through high school (yeah, Hazen Class of "71".) This makes her very familiar with the area, school district and many of our families. She and her husband, Scott have two married daughters and a grandchild. When not working they enjoy spending time with their kids or with friends who, like them, are involved in building and driving vintage hot rods. She also enjoys the challenge of turning a flea market find into a one of a kind art piece or a furnishing for her home.
Tonia may look like a new face around the office, but she has been here for a long time! She's popping in and out behind the scene on most days, back in our lab making appliances (expanders and retainers.) She has been working for Dr. Bob since 1989. She started as a chairside assistant working part time when he started his practice and gradually grew into working full time with patients and working in the lab. She has grown to know many faces and families through the years since we have "all" grown older in this office together. She definitely feels we are like family with all the time and events we have shared together through the years as a staff.
After having her second child in 1997, she went back to working part time in the lab, thus why her face is "new" when you see her working chairside on Thursdays. She says, it's nice having a familiar crew out working together and having a few laughs during the day.
Tonia would say she has been in Renton forEVER! Born and raised here and graduated from Lindbergh High School. She worked part time for a local dentist through high school and worked for him full time after graduating, tallying up seven years of experience in general dentistry before making the move to Orthodontics with our office. She married in 1991 and didn't move too far, settling in Kent with her husband Larry and her two boys Taylor (15) and Jordan (11). As she would say, "they are her other job of caretaker, chauffeur, cook, maid, personal assistant...you mom's know!" She loves to complain, BUT she wouldn't have it any other way! Tonia loves and enjoys her family. Both her boys play basketball and baseball so most of her time is on a court or a field, thus her hobby is being their #1 Fan!
Ruth has been with Dr. Sekijima as an assistant since he started his practice in Renton. She worked in a general dental practice for 12 years and then came into orthodontics in 1983. She lives in Covington with her husband, Rick, dog and 2 cats. In her spare time she likes to garden, decorate her house and spend time with her grandson.
